Executive education · Academic advisory

Helping universities, organisations and executives understand complex environments, make better decisions and learn through experience.

I am an international academic leader, executive educator and programme developer with 25 years of experience across the UK and Asia. I have worked within institutions rather than only alongside them: leading a multi-campus business school as Dean and then Vice President at the Asian Institute of Technology, directing MBA provision at the University of Liverpool and HKUST Business School, and teaching participants directly on MBA, EMBA, postgraduate and executive programmes.

That breadth covers the full learning journey: engaging prospective participants, inducting cohorts, designing and directing programmes, teaching, supervising dissertations and sustaining alumni relationships. I also review management programmes, departments and business schools externally, drawing on academic quality assurance work with transnational higher-education providers. My subject areas are ESG and sustainability, ethics and responsible leadership, strategy, scenario planning, decision-making and sports business, taught so that participants decide, apply and debate rather than simply listen. A rapidly developing strand of my work is the application of AI to higher education, particularly at the interface of industry, business, AI and education.

The Learning Journey

From first contact to lasting alumni connection

Programmes succeed or fail across eight stages, and institutions rarely have every stage fully covered. Roger works with universities, business schools and organisations across this whole journey, as teacher, programme director, reviewer or adviser depending on what is needed.

Teaching philosophy

Learning by deciding

Roger’s teaching is built on experiential learning. Participants are not asked to absorb frameworks and reproduce them; they are asked to make decisions with incomplete information, apply concepts to their own organisations, debate genuine dilemmas, and account for their reasoning afterwards.

That means simulations, live cases, wind-tunnel workshops, structured peer challenge and written argument, with feedback aimed at the quality of the reasoning rather than the neatness of the answer. The Management Game / CEO Simulation is the clearest expression of this approach.
